THREE DAY

Get Trekking

If you really want to immerse in the jungle and have more opportunity to see all its wonderful wildlife then this three day jungle trek could be for you. During the three day trek you have more chance to see Sumatra's wildlife and really get a feel for life in the jungle.

Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel at 08.30am and you will set off by 09.00am.  Your trek will start just on the edge of Bukit Lawang as you go uphill through the plantations in order to enter the Gunung Leuser National Park. During the first few hours you will have a high chance of seeing semi-wild and wild orangutans. You will continue trekking through the rainforest with some up and down hill walking. You will pass by small creeks with crystal clear water. After a couple of hours you will stop and your guide will prepare you a fresh-fruit platter. Take this opportunity to rehydrate and sit back and relax while listening to the sounds of the jungle.

You will then continue your trek deeper into the jungle, where your guide can point out various plant species and you can learn more about this ecosystem of the Gunung Leuser National Park

Jungle camp

By 3.30pm you will arrive at your campsite based close to a clear river, perfect to take a swim and refresh your body.

This evening you can relax and enjoy a banquet of local foods prepared by our camp chef.  You can spend the evening learning traditional jungle games and singing songs. The nighttime offers a different jungle experience, with many new animals’ sounds coming to life. Your campsite is designed to be a comfortable experience, with a thick foam mattress provided, mosquito net, and blanket and bed sheet.

The next day you will wake with the sun shining through the trees and the sound of birds calling. The campsite area offers the chance to see hornbills and other birds, as well as monitor lizards and butterflies.

Day 2

Your chef will prepare you hot coffee or tea with breakfast before you set off on another 5-6 hour hike.

During this day you head deeper in the jungle which offers much opportunity to see wild orangutans, various gibbon species, The Great Argus pheasant and much more interesting wildlife. You will spend another wondeful evening at a different campsite in the jungle.

Returning to Bukit Lawang

You will spend the morning exploring the area around your camp, and enjoying hot coffee/ tea and breakfast. There will be plenty of opportunities to see more animals around the river. Finally after lunch you will end your journey with a refreshing and exciting raft ride back to Bukit Lawang. Your guide and raft captain will make a raft using tyres, which will be steered down the Bohorok river. Keep an eye out on route for monkeys playing and drinking along the river's edge.

“An Absolute Must “- Highly recommended Adventure

A truly unforgettable experience. I commend Sumatra Orangutang Discovery for an action packed trek experience . From the moment we arrived at the airport in Indonesia, they helped arrange a really friendly and helpful driver to take us to Bukit Lawang- on a most pleasant journey . We then began our 3 day trek into the most beautiful jungle , what a privilege it was trekking with them .

They encourage and promote ethical trekking throughout the time spent with them in the jungle . A highlight to see was the - Eco friendly leaf plates being used to serve the most DELICIOUS meals for breakfast; lunch and supper- they also had great emphasis on ensuring no food or waste was left in the jungle . We truly were spoiled with cuisine and an excellent place of slumber . Clean tents and a comfortable bedding setup ( I honestly never expected it to be this “luxurious” on a jungle trek) . After each day of trekking we could be rest assured to have a comfortable place to rest and relax, ahead of the next days trekking .

Our guides were phenomenal, not only did they help us cower through some interesting technical terrains, they were exceptionally helpful. With an extent of knowledge from having a great passion and love for the jungle - Tyson and Laddi helped inform us with facts relating to trees; insects and the animal species that inhibit the lush green jungle . It truly was a fulfilling trek thanks to our two guides who took us through the thick of the jungle to experience some unforgettable moments . Not only did they have a good knowledge and respect of and for the jungle, they were also so entertaining with a lovely sense of humor .

Seeing Orangutang , Thomas leaf monkeys and Hornbills as well as Cecadas was a huge highlight for me .

If you want to experience a well balanced, pleasant and unforgettable trekking experience I would HIGHLY recommend them . I will be back and look forward to doing a 7 day trek with Sumatra Orangutang Discovery .

Professional from start to finish and for a very reasonable price .
