Two Day Trekking

Day 1- Arrival

Aiport pickup from Kuala Namu, Medan

Arrive at Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa, enjoy relaxing in our tropical garden

Day 2/3- Gunung Leuser National Park Overnight Trek

Start the day with our selection of healthy and delicious breakfast options.

Set off at 9am your two day jungle trek to see orangutans and other unique wildlife.

During your trek the guide will explain about the local flora and fauna. You will be provided with fresh fruit and lunch in the jungle. After a satisfying day trekking you will arrive at our camp based close to a river. Later you will be treated to local meal prepared by our camp chef. The next day you will get the chance to visit a beautiful waterfall, followed by lunch and then an exhilarating raft ride back to your starting point.

By 3pm you will be back our accommodation, in time to take a shower and enjoy an evening of guitar music and indonesian food.

Day 4- Bicycle Village Life Tour

After breakfast you will set off on your bicycle village tour, accompanied by our guides. (optional to go by tuk-tuk if preferred)

You will explore the local area, weaving down country paths through the rice fields and villages to see local life.

During the tour you will see how brown sugar is made, stopping at a local families home to watch the process. Once cooked you can taste the brown sugar juice and try a bite of 'Gula merah', a dense sugar cake. We provide a funding for their service. 

 Next we will stop at the tofu  and tempe producer where you can watch how soybeans are processed. If you wish to purchase and taste freshly cooked tofu you may.

Our tour will pass through local farm land, palm oil plantations, rubber plantations, cacao farm land and rice fields. Along the way, your guide will stop and demonstrate how local farmers are able to harvest and process these materials.

This tour will give you insight into Indonesian culture, language and traditional rural life.

Lunch is included in the Village Tour. 

By 3.30pm you will be back at Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa.

Day 5- Travel to Berastagi

After breakfast set off by private car to the mountainous region of Berastagi, famous for Karonese culture. 

Here you will stay at a wonderful family-run guesthouse on the outskirts of the town, with views of the steaming volcano, Mount Sibayak.

The next morning wake early, around 4.30am to begin your sunrise trek to the top of the volcano. As the sun lights up the valleys, see the incredible panoramic views over the town below and the lushious hillsides.

On the way back down, stop to see the bright-yellow sulphur pools, and steaming craters. Once you descend off the volcano you will stop off at the hot springs, where yur tired muscles can relax and enjoy the benefits of the natural minerals.

After lunch you will set off by private car to the island of Samosir, in Lake Toba, our private car will drop you at a small foot passenger ferry where you will be delivered to your lake-side accommodation.

Day 7- Free day to enjoy the views of Samosir

Today is a free day, so if you wish you can enjoy a lazy morning with breakfast included. The car, driver and guide will be available  today should you wish to visit anywhere.

Day 8- Tour around the island, stopping at Tomok, Ambarita, and Simanindo

Wake up and enjoy breakfast. We will set off at 9am to tour the island.

This classic island tour includes visiting the traditional weaving village, stopping at the panoramic view over the island, visiting Ambarita to learn about the history of the stone chairs and execution table, and also a visit to King Sidabutar's grave.

Your lunch is included in the tour.

Day 9- Private transport to Medan.

If time, a short tour of Medan history is possible with some stops at historical sights before being dropped at your final hotel
