This trek allows you to go deeper into the jungle with more chance to see wildlife such as the Orangutan and various types of monkeys. After a satisfying day trekking you will arrive at our camp based close to small river. Later you will be treated to local meal prepared by our camp chef. The next day you will get the chance to visit a beautiful waterfall before an exhilirating raft ride back to your starting point.

14 Day Sumatra Tour

This 15 day tour ensures you get to see and experience the best of North Sumatra with an experienced guides to share their knowledge and culture with you.
Itinerary
Day 1- Arrival
We will meet you with a private car at Medan airport to bring you to Bukit Lawang. You will stay at our accommodation, Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa. When you arrive you can relax in our garden or enjoy a cool beverage overlooking the jungle covered mountains The first evening you will meet your jungle guide for a briefing on the trek the following day.
Day 2/3/ 4- Gunung Leuser National Park 3 day jungle trek
Thí 3 day trek will allow you to really immerse in the jungle and have more opportunity to see all its wonderful wildlife. During these three days in the jungle you are gifted with more chance of seeing unique wildlife such as Orangutans, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Pig-Tail Macque, Gibbons and variety of birds and reptiles. You will stay at two different campsites each located near areas to swim. You will be provided with fresh fruit and lunch in the jungle. During the evening at camp you will be treated to local meal prepared by our camp chef.
On the third day you will get the chance to visit a beautiful waterfall, followed by lunch and then an exhilirating raft ride back to your starting point.
This trek is suitable for those that really love trekking with moderate fitness levels.
By 3pm you will be back at our accommodation where you are free to enjoy your afternoon.
Day 5- Bicycle Eco Village Tour
After breakfast included your guide will meet you at 8.30am and by 9 am you wil have set off on the Bicycle Village Tour.
We will travel through the rice fields and villages to meet local people and watch or take part in traditional practices.
During the tour you will see how brown sugar is made, stopping at a local families home to watch the process. Once cooked you can taste the brown sugar juice and try a bite of 'Gula merah', a dense sugar cake. We provide a funding for their service.
Next we will stop at the tofu producer where you can watch how soybeans are processed. If you wish to purchase and taste freshly cooked tofu you may.
Our tour will pass through local farm land, palm oil plantations, rubber plantations, cacao farm land and rice fields. Along the way, your guide will stop and demonstrate how local farmers are able to harvest and process these materials.
After this tour, you will feel closer to Indonesian culture and have experienced local life, language and culture.
Lunch is included in the Village Tour.
By 3.30pm you will be back our accommodationwhere you are free to enjoy your afternoon.
Day 6- Cooking class
Today you will take part in an authentic Indonesian cooking class. After a realaxing morning you will be accompanied to the local market where you can learn about the local fruits and vegetables. After purchasing your ingredints and learning a bit of Bahasa Indonesia, you will head back to our kitchen to work with our cook. You will learn how to combine and blend traditional Indonesian spices to make some of the most famous dishes, such as: chili sambal, rendang, coconut curry, semur, and other dishes. We are able to accommodate to cooking either vegean, vegetarian or meat.
Day 7- Travel to Berastagi
Setting off around 7am we will travel by private car to Berastagi, a cool, lush area located in the northern province of Sumatra.
En-route we will stop off at Sipisopiso water falls, the biggest waterfall in Sumatra. Here you can enjoy the view and relax before we start our journey again. Next we still stop at the tribal kings’ house of the Simalungun Batak in Pematang Purba. .
By evening we will arrive in Berastagi. Here we will stay the night at four star Sinabung Hill Resort, in one of their private cottages.
Day 8- Sunrise volcano hike
We will wake up early at 3:30 a.m. to travel to the nearby volcano, Sibayak, for a sunrise hike. This two hour hike will take you to the top for fantastic views overlooking the town of Berastagi and the surrounding area. Although this volcano is still active, its last eruption was many centuries ago, but the geothermal activity still creates steam vents and hot springs in the surrounding area. descending the volcano we will head to the hot springs at Persona Sibayak View. Here you can relax your muscles in the mineral-rich waters, followed by a local lunch overlooking the volcano. Return back to Sinabung Hill Resort by early evening.
Day 9- Travel to Samosir Island (Lake Toba)
Half the day will be spent traveling to Lake Toba. When you arrive you will have the afternoon to relax at your accommodation, kayak on the lake or relax by the pool if you wish.
Day 10- Tour around the island, stopping at Tomok, Ambarita, and Simanindo
Wake up and enjoy breakfast included. We will set off at 9am to tour the island. First, we will travel to the high point of the island to see stunning views. Next enjoy the local culture and see traditional Batak dances in Simanindo., where there is also a small museum located.
After that we head over to Ambarita to learn about the history of the stone chairs and execution table, followed by a visit to King Sidabutar's grave.
Finally, if you wish to continue exploring the island we will head over to watch the traditional weaving.
Day 11- Full day to relax or visit the local markets
This day is or you to spend how you like, our driver and car will be at your disposal to drop you somewhere.
Day 12-
Half day coffee tour. (3-4 hours) visit the Old Robusta Plantations, head up to the highlands to see the Arabica Coffee Fields, learn about coffee processing and finally stop off at a local coffee spot.
Day 13- Leaving samosir and arriving in Parapat
After breakfast included we will set off to leave the island at 11am. Wave goodbye to Samosir island as we take a ferry crossing and head to .Sapadia Hotel, located in Parapat. Here you can relax and enjoy the swimming pool and views over the lake.
Day 14- Private transport to Medan airport for your departure
